Medical Office Assistant

We are looking for a full time medical office assistant for a busy respiratory clinic.

The candidate must be self-motivated, responsible, efficient, adaptable, and organized.

The candidate must show initiative in the day to day running of a medical clinic.

The candidate must be committed to patient confidentiality.

The candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and be caring towards patients.

Location: Edmonton Downtown

Hours: 08:00-16:30, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Greeting patients upon arrival and assigning patients to exam rooms
- Collecting and updating patient information in electronic medical records
- Booking, confirming, cancelling, and rescheduling appointments as necessary
- Ensuring that all phone calls, faxes and other forms of communication are answered and redirected as necessary
- Facilitating communications between patients and the physician
- Preparing examination rooms for patient visits
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of the office and exam rooms

Qualifications:
- Medical Office Assistant program certification and at least 1 year of experience is required
- Familiarity with electronic medical record systems (NetCare, Connect Care, and Accuro) is an asset
- Knowledge of medical terminology is beneficial
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new software and computer operations
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Effective multitasking, time management, and organization skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
- Commitment to providing excellent patient care
