We are a dynamic and fast-paced family clinic located in the heart of the established Terwillegar neighborhood of Edmonton. We are seeking a highly motivated and detailed-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our team.

This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient operation of our medical office, providing exceptional administrative support to our healthcare professionals and delivering outstanding service to our patients.

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, proficiency in electronic medical records, and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of patient care.

Responsibilities:



Greet patients warmly and manage front desk operations:

This includes check-ins of patients, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients.

Schedule appointments:

Manage the calendar for healthcare providers to ensure efficient scheduling and patient flow.

Handle incoming phone calls:

Address inquiries, direct calls as necessary, and provide excellent customer service over the phone.

Collect patient vitals, height, weight, and escort patients to the exam room:

Accurately collect and document patient vital signs, height, weight, and escort patients to their designated exam rooms.

Maintain accurate patient records:

Use electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as HealthQuest to keep patient information up-to-date and organized.

Assist with administration tasks:

Perform filing, data entry, and manage office supplies to ensure the office runs smoothly.

Assist healthcare providers with minor procedures:

Provide support during minor medical procedures, ensuring patient comfort and efficient workflow.

Process patient payments:

Handle financial transactions and maintain financial records in accordance with office policies.

Ensure office cleanliness:

Keep the office environment clean, organized, and welcoming for patients.

Collaborate with healthcare staff:

Work with healthcare providers to ensure efficient patient flow and address any administrative needs.

Qualifications:



Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant certificate program or similar program. Previous experience in a medical office administrative role is preferred, with at least 1 year of experience. Proficiency in electronic medical records systems such as HealthQuest is essential. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and administrative procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on customer service. Ability to operate standard office applications, equipment, and phone systems efficiently. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. A positive attitude and a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
