We are seeking a reliable, organized, and enthusiastic individual to join our team. The successful candidate will provide administrative and clinical support for a busy obstetrics and gynecology practice. You will join a collegial group made up of three physicians and two other support staff. Our bright, newly renovated office is located in Downtown Dartmouth and has impressive views of the Halifax Harbour.   • Greet and check-in patients on arrival
  • Answer telephones, manage telephone voicemail system, and forward calls/messages to appropriate staff
  • Provide general information to patients, other medical professionals, and the general public
  • Book and confirm appointments through an electronic medical record
  • Process incoming and outcoming mail, email, and faxes, primarily through an electronic system
  • Process payments from patients
  • Order and restock office supplies, including vaccines
  • Assist patients with booking medical tests (diagnostic imaging, bloodwork, etc.)
  • Provide general administrative support to three physicians
  • Obtain height, weight and blood pressure measurements
  • Process microbiology, pathology and cytology specimens
  • Perform urine pregnancy tests
  • Call patients with test results, as directed by physicians
  • Prepare/update prenatal records and gynecology charts prior to patient visits
  • Clean and turn over examination rooms and ensure rooms are adequately stocked
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments
Education and Experience
  • College or other equivalent diploma program
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience working in a medical office setting
  • General proficiency with computers, word processing and email is essential
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Record is required
  • Experience with Accuro Electronic Medical Record is considered an asset

  • Fluency in written and spoke English required
  • Fluency in other languages considered an asset
Job Type

  • Monday to Friday, 8am- 4pm
Remuneration
  • Starting hourly rate of $20/hour x 37.5 hours/week
