Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional administrative support within a busy medical practice, ensuring smooth clinic operations and excellent patient service. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems, medical billing, and coding is highly valued. Responsibilities



Manage patient intake, check-in, and check-out processes with professionalism and courtesy Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software and coordinate provider calendars Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records utilizing EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms Assist with documentation review, data entry, and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations Handle phone calls with proper phone etiquette and multi-line phone systems to address patient inquiries and appointment requests Prepare and process billing claims including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and Medicare documentation requirements Support front desk operations by managing filing systems, patient correspondence, and office organization tasks Assist with care plan documentation and review medical documentation for accuracy Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure efficient clinic flow and patient satisfaction Perform general clerical duties such as typing reports, data entry (including 10 key typing), and using Microsoft Office applications

Requirements



Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment is preferred; dental clinic experience is a plus Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft or similar platforms Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and multi-line phone system operation Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and record keeping Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations Bilingual abilities are desirable but not required; exceptional customer service skills are essential Previous experience in medical administrative support or front desk roles within clinics or hospitals is highly advantageous
This position plays a vital role in ensuring efficient clinic operations while providing compassionate support to patients. The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism, technical proficiency in healthcare software systems, and a commitment to quality patient care.

Job Type: Permanent

Pay: $20.41-$23.25 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
