The Opportunity



We are looking for a Medical Office Assistant (MOA) to join our Health team at CUPS.

The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) role at CUPS offers a dynamic entry point into a variety of healthcare support areas. You'll begin by supporting client care through answering phones, scheduling, and intake coordination. From there, your path can evolve based on your strengths as a team player or independent collaborator. MOAs have the opportunity to grow into roles such as walk-in clinic support, client service coordination within our interdisciplinary primary care team or coordinating specialized referrals. Mon to Fri, 8:00 am-4:00pm, 40 hours/week

HOURLY SALARY RATES:

$23.87 to $24.82

Key Responsibilities:



As a

Medical Office Assistant (MOA)

at CUPS, you will be responsible for co-creating a caring, dignified, and trauma-informed experience for CUPS clients. MOAs play a crucial role in ensuring that clients accessing CUPS receive a comprehensive and holistic approach to their care. In addition to providing administrative clinical support, client navigational support, and data management within the health clinic, MOAs at CUPS are key members of the Care Coordination Community of Practice. You will work closely with staff within the health clinic, throughout the organization, and with external stakeholders to support CUPS clients, ensuring an integrated approach to service delivery.

Organizational Duties and Performance:



Coordinate the flow of clients and client information through the health clinics' multi-disciplinary teams and internal CUPS programming for the achievement of an integrated care experience for clients, including triage, facilitating assessments, referrals, and appointment scheduling Develop and maintain a diverse scope of practice through rotation of coverage for all MOA duties throughout the clinic according to need and team schedule Collect and manage client records, ensuring accuracy and completeness, following up with team members as required to acquire missing information Accurately enter all required data points in all databases Remain up to date on internal changes to programs, services, and personnel to ensure accurate care plan development and warm hand-offs of clients to colleagues Actively participate in the multidisciplinary team's daily huddles as an expert in client care

Leadership:



Create an approachable, caring, and trauma-informed environment for clients accessing CUPS services Contribute to the safety and wellness of clients, colleagues, and visitors by remaining up to date on CUPS health & safety protocols Act as warden for client dignity by ensuring confidential client information is handled with the utmost care and respect in alignment with HIPA and CUPS privacy protocols & values Act as ambassador of CUPS Purpose[LF6] and values both internally and externally Demonstrate a commitment to best practice and evidence-based medical care through participation in quality improvement work Act as steward for client dignity by ensuring confidential client information is handled with the utmost care and respect in alignment with HIA and CUPS privacy protocols & values

Stakeholder Relations:



Develop and maintain collaborative and accountable working relations with internal CUPS colleagues to strengthen communication flow and cross-program understanding Support effective team-based care through clear communication with colleagues and rotating physicians Provide caring, reliable, trauma-informed care to all clients accessing CUPS to reduce barriers to service and increase community trust Share experience and knowledge with students, volunteers, and guests interested in CUPS services to further develop CUPS' social justice impact & external ambassador network

What You Bring



Diploma in Medical Office Administration with 1 year's experience, or MOA Certificate and 2 years' experience in medical reception/medical office assistance 1-3 years previous work experience in the social service sector preferred Demonstrated experience providing first point of contact service to diverse variety of clients who may be experiencing mental health, addiction, poverty & trauma concerns Previous experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary team Proficiency in Telus Collaborative Health Record (CHR) EMR database considered an asset
