As a Medical Office Assistant with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

• Work within the context of a client and family centered care model and in accordance with established vision and values of the organization
• Report administratively to the Manager, working as a member of an integrated team and play a significant role in ensuring that clients/patients have a positive experience with the designated services within a fast paced, high volume clinic environment.
• Schedule and book appointments, typing technical and non-technical material, maintaining filing and computerized patient/client/client database systems and processing a variety of requisitions.

Qualifications
Education & Experience

• Grade 12, graduation from an approved program as a Medical Office Assistant (MOA)
• One year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Ability to type 50 wpm.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
