Status: Permanent Full Time

Hours: Monday - Sunday - Various rotating shifts - 7.5 hour shifts - days, evenings and nights (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)

Site: Oakville

This is what you\'ll be doing:

• Responsible for all duties in the Hematology and Transfusion Medicine departments.
• Responsible for the reporting of accurate and precise results following the established quality control programs.
• Takes independent action to correct results not in control. Notifies the immediate supervisors about quality control issues.
• Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and troubleshooting of core lab instruments
• Participates in the implementation of new methods, equipment and software as required
• Contributes to the Total Quality Management system by identifying areas for improvement and areas of risk
• The medical laboratory technologist ensures the accurate, precise and verifiable performance of tests and the timely
• Reporting of results which will provide reliable information for the diagnosis/monitoring of each patient/client.
• The medical laboratory technologist systematically evaluates and analyses information to facilitate continuous improvement of the laboratory process in the interest of patient care.

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
• Recent 3 \xe2\x80\x93 5 years of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine experience
• Strong working knowledge of Hematology and Transfusion Medicine
• Familiarity with automated equipment/troubleshooting and manual tests
• Familiarity with routine Biochemistry processes are an asset
• Flexibility to work at alternate hospital sites if operational needs exist
• Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of a team
• A positive attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
• Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
