POSITION: MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST
Core Lab
Primary Site: Stratford
Regular Part-Time
POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Laboratory Technologist performs both routine and advanced test procedures, as necessary, for the efficient functioning of his/her area of assignment.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Laboratory Service
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $36.84 to $50.24 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program
Current or eligible for registration with the CMLTO in the disciplines of Blood Bank, Hematology and Biochemistry
EXPERIENCE:
Preferably at least two years recent technical experience in a core lab.
ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of Meditech Information System and personal computer applications
Able to exercise initiative in problem solving
Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and good judgement in a stressful environment
Ability to organize, prioritize and adapt to constant changing priorities.
Ability to direct, mentor, correct and report on work of MLA
Computer literate (LIS, word processing and spreadsheet programs)
Be familiar with phlebotomy techniques and all types of blood collection.
Competency as described in the Competency Profile - General Medical Laboratory Technologist,
as published by the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS)
