Position Summary

Cambrian College's Schools of Health Sciences and Emergency Services requires a full-time Medical Laboratory Technologist on a leave replacement basis beginning December 2025 until June 2027. This position requires flexibility in scheduling as some evening work is required.





Duties and Responsibilities

Plan, set up, organize, and maintain laboratory facilities in a safe and efficient manner. Collaborate with faculty in design, modification, acquisition, and installation of laboratory equipment and procedures. Take an active role in providing lab feedback to students and the demonstration of procedures taught in class. Perform repairs and equipment maintenance, design and build teaching aids, assist with lab projects, and demonstrate previously taught theories and techniques. Ensure that laboratory facilities are properly stocked and prepared for scheduled labs; manage supply ordering; monitor budget in conjunction with department Chair and Faculty leads. Maintain laboratory inventory, equipment, samples, organisms, and all forms of lab wastes in compliance with PHAC, biosafety regulations and regulatory standards of practice for MLTs. Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Laboratory Information System (LIS)

Qualifications

Minimum of a three-year postsecondary diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.

(A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application education completed outside of Canada, applicants are required to submit a WES or ICAS with their application).
Current Practicing License with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologist of Ontario - must be in good standing. Must hold current First Aid and CPR certificates. Must hold WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificates. Three years of experience as a medical laboratory technologist. Experience in a lab setting for each of the disciplines: Chemistry, Microbiology, Hematology, Transfusion Science, Histotechnology. Must have demonstrated strong communication, collaboration and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and support student success Ability to promote teamwork and work cohesively within a team-oriented environment. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
