About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Anatomical Pathology Manager and working collaboratively with the Chief of Service, management team, medical and laboratory staff, the Technical Specialist performs procedures offered by the division using appropriate methodologies and quality assurance techniques. The Technical Specialist has the capability to conduct all aspects of procedural and instrument troubleshooting, method evaluation, establishment and maintenance of quality assurance and safety programs, as well as interpret the technical acceptability of method results. The Technical Specialist will be responsible for inventory management, procedure development, training of new staff, students, and residents and chairing of meetings. The Technical Specialist will have responsibilities in the Cytopathology section as well as other sections in the Division of Anatomical Pathology. The Technical Specialist will collaborate with the management team to support and maintain daily operations. The Technical Specialist will be a resource for other laboratories in Central Zone. The Technical Specialist will collaborate with faculty, colleagues, vendors and clients in Central Zone and throughout Nova Scotia Health. Working conditions include exposure to chemicals on a daily basis.
