We are currently recruiting for a Medical Information Specialist. Reporting to the Manager, Medical Affairs, the incumbent will work in close collaboration with the medical team and other employees at Servier Canada.


Status of position: Permanent, starting immediately
Location of position: Within greater Montreal area; Hybrid office and work-at-home
Reporting to the Manager, Medical Information, the Medical Information Specialist is responsible for supporting the MI activities at Servier Canada. In this capacity, the incumbent works with the Manager, Medical Information and interacts closely with other colleagues internally, both in Canada and within the global medical information team at Servier Group. He/she provides support for products marketed by Servier in Canada, for products in the pre-launch phase as well as for special cases when required. The incumbent is primarily responsible for answering questions from Canadian healthcare professionals and patients about Servier Canada\xe2\x80\x99s products, according to current standards. He/she acts as deputy for the Manager, Medical Information. Specifically, this individual is responsible for:


Managing the reception of requests for Medical Information
  • monitoring the data entry systems
  • sorting and directing requests to the appropriate group
  • verifying the urgency of the requests



Responding to requests for Medical Information
  • verifying the unsolicited request and clarifying its nature as necessary within the required timeframe
  • seeking relevant and evidentiary information from various reference sources to support the answer
  • providing an oral or written response to the requester in accordance with the standards in force
  • documenting the follow-up (actions and responses) in the MI request management system



Developing and maintaining basic Medical Information materials
  • researching scientific literature prior to writing the model letters
  • ensuring the scientific writing or the revision of the model letters on MI topics
  • maintaining and updating the documentation related to the model letters on the local area network



Initiating the management of certain pharmacovigilance cases
  • identifying which of the requests received are at least partly related to pharmacovigilance
  • collecting and documenting initial information relevant to pharmacovigilance when required - joint cases, MI and pharmacovigilance
  • transmitting this information to the pharmacovigilance department in accordance with the rules and procedures in place within the required time limits



Initiating the management of some quality assurance cases:
  • identifying which of the applications received are, at least in part, the responsibility of the quality assurance department;
  • collecting and documenting initial information relevant to quality assurance cases where required - joint cases, MI and quality assurance;
  • transmitting this information to the quality assurance department in accordance with the rules and procedures in place within the required time limits



Maintaining the conformity of the quality documents
  • writing or revising the quality documents when required
  • completing training on the quality documents or other training courses required for the job



Assuming various related tasks and responsibilities
  • acting as deputy for the Manager, Medical Information and local responsible person for Medical Information (RPMI)
  • remaining current and developing expertise regarding Servier Canada\xe2\x80\x99s products, including product monographs and treatments in relevant areas
  • participating in the development and management of local MI procedures
  • contributing to the preparation of the monthly activity report and metrics tracking
  • supporting and participating in the departmental audit
  • supporting various local and global MI-related projects as required



Performing all other related duties or tasks as required by the organization
Job Requirements
  • A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in a healthcare discipline such as pharmacy, medicine or nursing, or a life sciences degree coupled with at least 2 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in Medical Information within the pharmaceutical industry in Canada. A postgraduate degree (Masters or Doctorate) would be an asset;
  • A minimum of 1-2 years\xe2\x80\x99 work experience in MI-related activities, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry in Canada
  • Knowledge of the Innovative Medicines Canada Code and the Drug Development process
  • In-depth knowledge of Health Canada\xe2\x80\x99s current regulations
  • Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Box, MS Teams, VEEVA, Reference Manager or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills in French and English, oral and written
  • Team spirit and leadership
  • Effective relationship management, client-focused approach and genuine concern for patients
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to adapt to different product portfolios and types of clients, e.g. from consumers to health care providers
  • Strong ability to make scientific information understandable when interacting with patients or consumers
