TRANSCRIPTIONIST (Transcription Editor) (25-0000440)

Status: TEMPORARY Full Time

Department: Health Records

Site: St. Joseph's Hospital

Shifts: Days

Rate of Pay: $25.10 to $29.53 per hour

A TEMPORARY Full Time Transcriptionist (Transcription Editor) is required for the Health Records Department, St. Joseph's Hospital site. Reporting to the Manager, Health Records and Central Registration you will interpret and transcribe dictated documentation by physicians and clinicians, to facilitate delivery of health care services.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Diploma in office administration (medical / health services) or equivalent in work experience and continuing education*

Minimum two years' experience in transcription in the health care setting, mental health, complex chronic or rehabilitative environments*

Must possess extensive knowledge of medical terminology, including anatomy and physiology, diagnostic, laboratory tests, and pharmacology*

Knowledge of and ability to comply with applicable legislation and related regulations, codes, and standards; specifically, Personal Health Information Protection Act*

Skills/Abilities:

Qualified applicant must possess extensive medical terminology, that includes anatomy & physiology, clinical medicine, mental health, complex chronic care and rehabilitation environments including diagnostic and laboratory tests and pharmacology.*

Must possess transcription and voice editing skill sets, competency in speech recognition editing functions, including transcription guidelines and practices.*

Ability to type to industry standards.*

Advanced knowledge of medical transcription guidelines and practices*

Must possess excellent oral and written communication and organizational skills*

Ability to interpret and transcribe dictation from diverse audiences with varying dictation styles*

Must possess ability to operate designated work processing, dictation and transcription equipment and other equipment as specified*

This position requires oral and written communication skills, ability to understand diverse accents and dialects and varying dictation styles*

Must maintain confidentiality of records, actions and information*

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.*

Ability to work under pressure with a fast paced high volume workload*

Demonstrated regular attendance at work*
