Visit us today and check out to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityReporting to the Manager and Supervisor of the Medical Device Reprocessing Department and in accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, this position performs a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and/or surgical supplies and medical devices for the operating room and various areas of the hospital. In addition, this position performs related clerical duties and record keeping.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade 12
  • Successful completion of an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program (Course with practicum preferred)
  • Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Certification
  • Formal education in anatomy, medical terminology, microbiology, infection control preferred
  • Membership with the Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Nova Scotia preferred
  • Previous experience working in the setting preferred
  • Experience operating MDR related equipment
  • Knowledge of Infection Control measures and Routine Practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to problem solve
  • An aptitude for tasks requiring manual dexterity and technical skill
  • Computer experience
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Successful candidate is required to take and successfully pass a functional assessment to determine the physical capabilities to complete the physical job demands of the jobPhysical Demands: Repetitive bending, repetitive lifting and carrying up to a maximum of 30 pounds, repetitive pushing and pulling carts. Constant standing and walking. Exposure to chemicals, blood and body fluids and extreme heat and humidity as well as loud noise.Where there are no applicants who have completed the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program, consideration for a Medical Device Reprocessing in Training may be given to applicants who are currently enrolled in an approved Medical Device Reprocessing Technician Program or who commit to completing this program at their own expense within the first 14 months of employment (must submit proof of course enrollment within six weeks of being hired into the Medical Device Reprocessing in Training position).Please ensure your resume is up to date and includes all relevant education, experience, training, and certifications.Hours
  • Permanent Full-time; 75 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts include days, evenings, nights and weekends/holidays (0700-1500, 1100-1900, 1300-2100, 1500-2300, 2300-0700). Hours are subject to change.
  • On-call required
  • Travel to various sites may be required.
  • A skills test will be included as part of the selection process.
