Position Summary

:


The Medical Device Reprocessing Technician is responsible and accountable for the cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, inspection, assembly, packaging and sterilization of medical devices and instrumentation in accordance with the CSA Standards and Best Practices for Cleaning, Disinfection, and Sterilization (PIDAC). The Supply Assistant performs this work in a professional and collaborative environment, where the Medical Device Reprocessing Department team is interactive, supportive and committed to excellence and quality patient care.


Weekend, evening work and rotation through the areas is required

Position Requirements:



Medical Device Reprocessing Association of Ontario Course or equivalent Previous experience in sterile processing of medical devices and equipment Ability to withstand heavy instrument sets and to push/pull carts to and from units Tolerance to pre-enzymes, detergents, disinfectants and stain removers in the decontamination process Ability to stand for long periods of time assembling instruments, utensils and sets of instruments Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral Initiative to understand the depth of day to day activities to be able to organize and prioritize the workload Maintains an understanding of and adheres to Quality Assurance Policies and Procedures, handles and transports sterile supplies.
