Summary
The Media Specialist II is a key member of UBC Studios' production team, managing production and delivery of multi-media services for a wide range of educational, promotional, and communications projects. As a DOP and video editor, this role blends creative storytelling with technical expertise, from concept development and shooting to post-production and delivery. The Media Specialist II collaborates with faculty, staff, and students across the university, transforms ideas into engaging, high-quality digital media products. Beyond traditional production, the role also leverages emerging technologies, including AI-assisted tools, digital workflows, and the potential of immersive media to streamline processes, enhance collaboration, and push creative boundaries.
This position requires work both in an office environment and on location (on and off campus), and may require working some early mornings, late evenings or weekends, and occasional travel.
Organizational Status
UBC Studios provides a suite of digital media services to the University community including strategic enterprise-wide communication projects, educational, and creative media services. This position reports to the Supervising Producer, UBC Studios and is part of the UBC Studios' video production team that provides production and post-production.
This position also collaborates with management and staff within UBC Studios and from other units of Information Technology and UBC where appropriate.
