Job Description

Itec group is recruiting a Mechanical Technologist specializing in innovative mechanical solutions with a focus on sheet metal design and fabrication. They are committed to quality engineering and manufacturing, serving diverse industries with custom-designed products.
Position Overview:
The Mechanical Technologist will be responsible for designing, detailing, and supporting sheet metal fabrication projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong SolidWorks skills, extensive experience in sheet metal design, and a solid understanding of fabrication processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and modify 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks, focusing on sheet metal components and assemblies.
Design and prepare fabrication drawings, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client specifications and industry standards.
Collaborate with the engineering and production teams to review designs, troubleshoot issues, and optimize manufacturing processes.
Support prototyping and testing activities, adjusting designs as needed for manufacturability and performance.
Prepare bill of materials (BOM) and manufacturing instructions for sheet metal parts.
Assist in reviewing customer specifications and translating them into clear and workable designs.
Ensure all designs and documentation comply with safety and quality standards.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to design and fabrication efficiencies.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
Proven experience with SolidWorks, specifically in sheet metal design and detailing.
Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, and welding.
Experience working with manufacturing and assembly environments.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Knowledge of industry standards related to sheet metal and mechanical design.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
