Overview


We are seeking a skilled and practical Mechanical Technician to support the daily operations of our food production plants in Ontario. The successful candidate will assist with the maintenance, improvement, and optimization of mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring reliable and efficient plant operations in compliance with food safety and occupational health standards.

Responsibilities



Leverage suppliers and partners to design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems used in processing, packaging, and facility infrastructure. Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions to ensure operational reliability. Develop and manage preventative maintenance strategies; plan and execute maintenance activities to reduce production downtime and enhance equipment performance. Contribute to maintenance projects, including equipment installation, commissioning, upgrades, modifications, repairs, plant expansions, and layout changes. Prepare and update technical documentation such as engineering reports, mechanical drawings, specifications, and cost estimates. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, maintenance, quality assurance, and sanitation to support plant operations. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment efficiency, energy conservation, downtime reduction, and process automation. Operate a range of production equipment and machinery in accordance with company procedures and safety standards. Actively participate in machinery operational tasks, including assembling products and components as part of the manufacturing process, replacing machine consumables (e.g., packaging materials, labels, etc.) as needed to ensure uninterrupted production flow. Ensure all mechanical documentations are up to date and comply with applicable regulations, including food safety (HACCP, GMP) and occupational health and safety (OHSA) standards. Plan and deliver training, guidance, and technical support to equipment operators, maintenance personnel, and production line workers.

Requirements



Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance or engineering, ideally in industrial or manufacturing environment. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to production quality and workplace safety. Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as required. Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and low temperatures. Physically capable of lifting, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces. Demonstrate a high level of initiative and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 - 45 per week
