ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY


We are seeking a Mechanical Project Manager in our Calgary team with a natural aptitude for building strong client relationships, through technical excellence.

As a Mechanical PM with Integral, you will have a passion for innovative design of mechanical systems in high-performance buildings of all types. Your technical knowledge of how all components of building systems including HVAC, plumbing & fire protection systems contribute to building energy efficiency, will set you apart.

The Project Manager forms a viable part of the Integral Group management team and is responsible for managing his/her respective Project Design Team.

They are fully responsible and accountable for their design team staff, regularly review staffing and distribute tasks effectively and consistently with staff skill sets. By providing technical support and management resources essential to Integral Group, the Project Manager ensures that design decision-making and team management accountability take place.

The Project Manager:

  • Works with the Integral’s Management Team (headed by Managing Principal) to control and coordinate business
    development, sales/marketing, team targets, technical design and related activities
  • Develops, establishes, and administers procedures and systems pertaining to team management matters
  • Is the principle liaison with selected clients or major projects
  • Upholds and maintains Integral Group design standards. Responsible for engineering, specifications, documentation, standardization, quality assurance, cost and value analysis and the broader aspects of Division 15 mechanical building services (plus role of Managing Consultant as required)

Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Work Forecasting
  • Provide workload forecasting as new projects are secured and provide progress analysis regarding prospective
    unsecured projects (integrating efforts of the Marketing Team)
  • Update Integral accounting system information for effective use by the Marketing Team
    Recommend distribution of new work based on staff availability as established by the team workload requirements

Client Liaison/Communication
  • Represent Integral Group at meetings with project clients and other project stakeholders as required
  • Company representative at related association meetings, plus dealing with city, provincial and federal officials

Teaching Skills
  • Train staff in all phases of design process to insure continuation of technical design operation when absent from the
    office or when staff is on vacation
  • Utilize leadership skills and motivation techniques to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction

Quality Assurance
  • Effect and implement programs to improve the quality of our service, products and systems to meet client's
    requirements and expectations and to minimize costs and maximize the company's competitive position
  • Instill the concept of quality being the responsibility of every design team member. Promote quality issues with all
    members and in particular ensures that the quality control function is effectively performed
  • Utilized the quality assurance and control programs in the company
  • Assure adequate field review services are provided to ensure adherence of contract documents
  • Effect studies to determine cause, effect and corrective actions required to remedy deviations impairing desired
    standards
Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of specific HVAC, plumbing and fire protection design experience
  • Minimum 5 years project management experience in consulting engineering
  • Superior interpersonal skills with clients and staff
  • Communication and Coaching skills
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Professional Engineer (CEng, PEng or equivalent), Applied Science Technologist (AScT) designation, or eligibility to apply
  • LEED Accreditation an asset
