About The Role



We are seeking an experienced

Mechanical Engineer

to support construction and capital projects for one of our clients in

St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador

. This role will provide technical oversight and engineering support across multiple projects, working closely with project managers, consultants, contractors, and site teams.

This is a

contract position

with an anticipated

start date of February 2, 2026

, and an

end date of December 31, 2026

, with the possibility of extension. The estimated effort is

37.5 hours per week

.

Key Responsibilities



Provide technical support to the Project Manager across assigned projects Prepare and review tender packages and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) Review shop drawings and technical submissions from contractors and vendors Provide technical input as part of the design team, including preparation of technical documentation Direct and supervise consultants and contractors during project execution Review and approve reports prepared by consultants Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) as required Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction activities and verify project progress Support site teams and facilitate effective communication among project stakeholders Review and approve technical and commissioning documentation Assist with project close-out activities and transition of completed assets to operations Promote continuous improvement through lessons learned and sharing best practices Submit timesheets and required documentation in accordance with project requirements Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience Required



Bachelor's degree in

Mechanical Engineering

Registered (or eligible for registration) with the

Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL)

8 or more years of experience

supporting construction projects Field experience related to

hydroelectric facilities or the electrical industry

is considered an asset Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of

Microsoft Office

Ability to adapt to dynamic work environments and changing project demands

Additional Details



Travel to project sites within

Newfoundland and Labrador

may be required A valid

Canadian driver's license

with an acceptable driver's abstract is required A

criminal record check
