Job Description



We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Product Designer to join our creative team. As Mechanical Product Designer, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of our LED lighting products from concept to prototype and initial manufacturing. Your expertise in mechanical engineering, coupled with a focus on robust design methodologies, will be instrumental in the creation of innovative products that meet aesthetic, functional, and cost-effective requirements.

Products are to be designed for a variety of Architectural applications such as Linear Architectural Lighting, Accent Lighting, Wall Washing, Wall Grazing, as well as Landscape outdoor lighting.

Responsibilities:



Manage the full mechanical and electrical design process of lighting products from concept to production Design mechanical parts and assemblies that meet aesthetic, functional, and cost targets Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including 2D/3D drawings, renderings, instruction sheets, specifications, BOMs, and cost estimates Conduct physical testing to validate product performance, reliability, and safety Collaborate with suppliers to source materials and components, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness Integrate thermal management techniques, including heatsinks and airflow optimization Perform product inspections, testing, and certifications; develop test procedures and QC fixtures for production Develop electrical schematics and BOMs; select cables, connectors, and electrical components appropriate for each design Stay updated on industry standards and incorporate them into design practices Assist with prototyping and iterate designs for optimal output, manufacturability, and pricing Support procurement by evaluating materials and identifying new vendors Prepare and present reports, technical documentation, and product presentations Use Fusion 360 to develop custom product layouts tailored to project requirements Coordinate with in-house workshop for prototyping, assembly, and testing Identify opportunities for innovation and business development during sourcing and design processes

Education Required



Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Design or related field- With hands on experience

Requirements:



Minimum 3 to 5 years' experience in related industry Expertise in 2D/3D design software, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Advanced knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical systems, as well as prototyping techniques such as 3D printing Enrich knowledge and comprehension of materials, particularly metals, plastics, and glass Knowledge of Fusion360 (or equivalent) and Adobe software Strong problem-solving skills Manufacturing experience Well-developed mechanical and drafting skills A fundamental knowledge of optics/ reflectors Knowledge of LED technology, low voltage systems, UL and other testing agencies Ability to sketch and generate creative visualizations of concepts Organized and detail-oriented Basic knowledge of electronics, lighting circuits knowledge would be an asset.
