Westex is a family-owned pillow and duvet manufacturer in Mississauga. We are employee-focused and growing. To expand our Maintenance team, we are seeking to hire a 4th year 433A Industrial Millright Apprentice who is registered with Skilled Trades Ontario.

Responsibilities:

Help build, test and install new duvet and pillow filling machines and other equipment. Focus on minimizing downtime through preventive maintenance and good troubleshooting techniques. Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with health and safety and housekeeping practices, and responsible use of personal protective equipment. Exposure to mechanical devices, pneumatic controls and welding/cutting Manual machining Help inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect and find irregularities and malfunctions Help install, align, take apart and move machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand and power tools General housekeeping of work area and other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

Millwrighting Apprenticeship almost completed ie. 5,000hrs experience Minimum two solid years in manufacturing environment Experience with small electrical repairs Welding experience preferred (stainless steel pipe, guard repairs, etc.) Experience with hand tools (drill gun, saw, sanding machine, various saws) Experience with shop tools (various saws, welders, drill press, iron worker) Knowledge of the standard methods, materials and equipment used in the Millwright and related trades. Attention to detail leading to high quality work Ability to multitask and switch tasks as needed Work safely Working independently (independent problem solving), as well as in a team Comfortable with computers 3rd or 4th year apprentice Completes assigned work in a timely manner;

Working Conditions:

Permanent, full-time position with stabile 40 hours/wk

Reports directly to the experienced Maintenance Manager who will train and develop you. Help hands-on with day-to-day requests for repair on production equipment

Exposure to heat, dust, down, feather, polyester etc as reasonably found in a manufacturing environment

Monday to Friday - 7:00am - 3:30pm to start. May need assistance with later hours in the future depending on business needs

Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
