The Mechanical Maintenance Technician plays an essential role in the installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment and machinery at two manufacturing facilities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This position is primarily based at our Alden location, with occasional duties at our 14th Ave. site, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of various production processes and equipment. Key responsibilities include performing routine maintenance on machinery, troubleshooting and resolving equipment issues, and repairing manufacturing equipment and facilities. The Mechanical Maintenance Technician works closely with the Maintenance Manager and Facilities Director to ensure machinery operates smoothly, downtime is minimized, and production efficiency is enhanced.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct regular maintenance and inspections on manufacturing equipment and machinery.
Assist in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems to identify and resolve issues.
Perform preventive maintenance tasks in line with the maintenance schedule.
Support the installation, calibration, and upgrades of manufacturing equipment.
Maintain precise maintenance records and logs of all tasks completed.
Collaborate with production staff to ensure minimal disruption to manufacturing processes.
Follow safety protocols to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Assist senior technicians and engineers with complex repair and maintenance duties.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair machinery, electrical systems, control panels, with guidance from Engineers and licensed Electrical Technician/Millwright.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
Provide support for equipment malfunctions to reduce production downtime
Perform diagnosing of mechanical and hydraulic/pneumatical problems
Engage in preventive maintenance to prolong equipment life and reduce failure risks.
Support in development and installation of new equipment and production manufacturing lines, also supporting new layouts implementation and continuous improvement
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance schedules.
Enter data into computerized maintenance systems for effective tracking and reporting.
Assist in the alignment and calibration of mechanical systems to ensure precise operation.
Comply with all safety regulations and company policies while carrying out maintenance tasks.
Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safe work practices at all times.

Qualifications:
Fundamental knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
Previous experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing setting is advantageous.
Strong problem-solving abilities and a keen eye for detail.
Capability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
Solid understanding of, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic systems equipment, and their interconnections.
A foundational understanding of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), Robots and automation systems.
A valid driver's license and a clean driving record is a must.
Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
Certification in maintenance-related areas, such as working at heights, forklift operator.
Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate successfully within a team.
Eagerness to learn and follow directions from operations management.
Basic computer skills for keeping records and managing documentation.
Physical capability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety.
