Job Description


Basic Function Provide effective and timely mechanical resources for repairs and maintenance of all manufacturing, packaging, and facility equipment. To work as resource with Production, Set-up Mechanics, Facility technicians Electricians and Operators. Ensure that plant production and facility equipment remain in peek operating condition, the plant supply of steam, hot and cold water, softened and purified water, fire protection sprinkler water, vacuum and compressed air, HVAC, through the Operation and maintenance of compressors, boilers, fire protection systems, water heaters, vacuum pumps, softeners, HVAC systems and purified water equipment. To ensure the physical condition of the Brockville and Prescott facilities, both internally and externally, are maintained to be compliant with cGMPs, OSHA regulation. Responsibilities

  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, abnormal frequency of breakdowns, troubleshoot and make appropriate necessary repairs.
  • Set-up, operate and maintain all machine shop equipment. Manufacture replacement parts and change over parts to close tolerances if required. Fabricate tools, jigs, and fixtures using a variety of materials.
  • Understand and work from prints and machine shop manuals.
  • Rebuild production equipment as required.
  • Perform preventative maintenance functions on production and facility equipment.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install as per engineering drawings:
  • Equipment modifications for packaging format changes.
  • Cost savings projects.
  • New production line layouts and startups.
  • Be proficient in rigging techniques ensuring safe handling of equipment and components.
  • Have a working knowledge of pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, stainless steel and aluminum welding, basic sheet metal work.
  • Understand and work within cGMP guidelines.
  • Work within safety regulations.
  • Assist production set-up mechanics as required.
  • Basic knowledge of production machine set-up and changeovers.
  • Must be prepared to suggest and implement modifications and improvements to increase line efficiencies working as a \xe2\x80\x9cteam player\xe2\x80\x9d with production and engineering staff.
  • Be proficient with PC based software. Word, excel, CMMS
Overtime and shift work may be required. Response to purified water, boiler and other production and utilities related calls after normal working hours, weekends, and holidays may be required. Qualifications
  • Grade 12 diploma with certification in a related trade (Certified Millwright and or Machinist, Mechanical Technician, Technologist) required.
  • Have completed an accredited industrial mechanic apprenticeship \xe2\x80\x93 8,000 hours total.
  • A minimum of 5 years industrial practice relating to mechanical repair and maintenance of manufacturing and packaging equipment. With machining experience
  • Have working knowledge and hands on experience with welding, stick & tig (stainless steel) fabrication, soldering, etc.
  • Have working knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic circuits and troubleshooting techniques.
  • General knowledge of pipefitting, plumbing, electrical
