*Position Overview:*
The Lab Technicians primary function is to deliver timely and accurate test results of production material, inspected to purchaser release tolerances.
The Lab Technician also interacts and supports technical testing and assistance with developmental trials, daily maintenance/quality assurance of laboratory equipment and regular communication with interdepartmental/ manufacturing team members to ensure a smooth, efficient release system.
Responsibilities & Qualifications:Responsibilities:

• Preparing and testing production material for shipment releases
• Daily management of lab release listing, evaluation of failures, and direction of non-conforming product
• Ensuring daily maintenance/quality assurance of lab equipment is completed
• Completing technical testing to support product engineering and development

Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a Chemical or Mechanical lab (external requirement)
• Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to document exceptions/irregularities
• The ability to use hydraulic shears, hydraulic punches, band saw and a programmable milling machine for preparation of material
• The ability to learn new computer and robotic applications
• Knowledge of Novelis Kingston systems (MSK, SAP) an asset. The ability to learn these systems is a requirement
• The demonstrated ability to execute complex tasks
• The ability to communicate to all levels of the organization to problem solve and escalate concerns
• A preference for working in a team-environment
• Experience with analytical equipment such as GC (Gas Chromatography) or FTIR (Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy) an asset
