The opportunity
BPA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with fire protection experience to join our Halifax-based team. In this role, you will design, analyze, and implement mechanical & fire protection systems across commercial, healthcare and multi-residential projects, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, multi-discipline environment. Main Responsibilities
Technical supervision, coordination, verification and design of various mechanical building & fire protection systems projects.
Work as part of a team to carry out building-related systems design projects for various sectors (institutional, office, commercial, cultural and residential).
Connect with clients to understand their needs.
Survey existing installations.
Analyze, design and adapt building-related installations.
Draft designs, and various types of client reports.
Assess the construction cost budget, help set schedules.
Your profile
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (specializing in building) or building engineering.
7+ years of experience in mechanical building & fire protection systems design
Member in good standing of Engineers Nova Scotia.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and HAP or TRACE heat loads calculations software.
Capability to write reports, complete site visits, and design mechanical and plumbing systems with minimum supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Collaborative spirit and positive leadership to influence technical decisions and client relationships.
Analytical & creative problem-solving skills, with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team, as required.
Ability to work full time on site.
