There is a position available for a Mechanical Equipment Service Person at Facilities. Applications must be completed online and will be accepted until noon, November 25, 2025.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the repair and maintenance of a wide variety of School District equipment.
Hours of Work:
(8) hours per day
Duties to Commence:
As soon as possible after closing
Work Year Base:
Twelve (12) months per year
Commencing Salary:
$31.49/hr.
Duties to be assigned include:
Repairs, tests, installs, and maintains belts, pulleys, linkages and filters. Maintains, adjusts and lubricates moving parts and ensures cleanliness of HVAC equipment, dust collection/air extraction units, and shop equipment by:
+ Following work orders assigned by the Supervisor
+ Responding to emergency telephone requests Performs preventative maintenance on HVAC, rotating equipment and other School District equipment. Records data from gauges and in equipment logs.
Informs Supervisor or site Administrative Officer(s) if equipment needs servicing.
Organizes work day according to the Supervisor's direction by location, priority, and work site availability (contacts other trades and District staff to ensure the work site is ready).
Monitors and replenishes supplies as needed with Supervisor's approval.
Ensures tools, equipment and assigned vehicles are in good working order (for example, pre-trip inspections).
Perform lagoon and dugout maintenance as needed.
Perform minor maintenance tasks related to other mechanical and system trades as required.
Follows proper safety rules and standards including lockouts and ensures the work site is safe and secure, that vehicles and equipment are operated according to set standards and the proper and safe handling of hazardous materials (W.H.M.I.S.).
Informs the Supervisor or site Administrative Officer(s) of vandalized or defective equipment.
Oversees the work of one or more helpers as assigned.
Performs other job related duties as directed by the Operations Manager.
Qualifications and Attributes:
Grade 10 or equivalency
Applicable Trade Qualification
Mechanical maintenance experience
2 years experience within the last 5 years with HVAC or mechanical equipment
Class 5 Driver's Licence
Acceptable Driver's Abstract
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office would be an asset
Knowledge of current techniques, methods, procedures and equipment applicable to HVAC trade
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to be an integral part of a team
Must be well organized
Ability to work independently and set priorities
W.H.M.I.S. Certificate and other online safety training provided by the District to be completed within the probationary period
Other applicable safety training and/or certifications as provided by the District to be completed as needed
Must be able to pass a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search conducted by the District prior to starting employment
