About You






We're seeking early-career professionals to join our team as Mechanical Designers / Engineers-in-Training (EITs). If you hold a Diploma of Technology or a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, have basic skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), and are curious about sustainability and climate-conscious design, we encourage you to apply.

The Role: Mechanical Designer / Engineer-in-Training





As a Mechanical Designer / EIT at Prism, you'll work under the guidance of Professional Engineers and senior designers to analyze and upgrade building systems. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and clients to deliver effective, thoughtful, and value-driven solutions. You'll also begin developing project management skills as you gain exposure to all stages of project delivery--from proposals and design to procurement and construction oversight.

Key responsibilities include:





Conducting site visits to survey existing building mechanical systems Supporting system design through engineering calculations, technical reviews, and drawing preparation Assisting in the development of tender documentation for equipment and installation Participating in construction site reviews and preparing field and deficiency reports Coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, and contractors, and participating in project meetings




This is a full-time (40 hours/week) salaried position with a flexible, hybrid work arrangement. The salary range is $60,000 - $75,000, based on your experience, qualifications, and unique contributions to the team.



The role is primarily based in our main office, with the option to work from home on some days. Occasional travel within BC and Western Canada may be required.

Preferred qualifications and skills:




Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Up to 2 years of experience in building mechanical systems design Familiarity with HVAC and plumbing systems in commercial or institutional buildings Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD tools Understanding of building codes and standards Knowledge of fire protection system design and performance specifications Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders Clear and professional communication skills in English
