Position: Mechanical Engineering - Design & Project Management:



Electec Engineering Inc. is seeking a mechanical engineer or mechanical engineering technologist to join our team out of our Bedford, Nova Scotia office. Key Responsibilities:



Oversee and manage plumbing and HVAC projects from kick-off to completion. Provide direction/project-management for design and drafting of plumbing and mechanical systems for renovation and new building projects. Project types mainly include commercial and multi-unit residential. Coordinate with contractors, equipment suppliers, and outside consultants to ensure projects are completed on project schedule, budgets are met, design work is coordinated with other disciplines, and the interpretation of project documents and codes/specifications are understood. Manage completion of building heating/cooling load calculations in coordination with architectural design and other project consultants' requirements. Manage sizing/specification of plumbing and mechanical systems in accordance with company standards and industry best practices, while keeping accurate & complete records for projects. Attending design coordination meetings, performing site reviews, and preparing associated reports from the project design phase up to completion of construction. Review and approval of plumbing/mechanical contractor submittals for project equipment. Application of industry codes/standards to design work (ie: Canadian Building and Plumbing Codes, National Fire Protection Association, ASHRAE Standards, Canadian National Energy Code, etc.).

Credentials:



Experience in HVAC and plumbing design is required. Proven experience with management of plumbing and HVAC projects will be considered an asset. Registered or eligible to register as a mechanical engineer or mechanical engineering technologist (i.e. CET) in the Province of Nova Scotia. Knowledgeable in a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products. Competency in the use of AutoCAD software is preferred. Effective in communicating information and ideas in a professional setting. Adept at using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative design solutions.
