We are a vertically integrated manufacturing facility, with research, design, procurement and manufacturing teams pressing novel technologies in the Aerospace & Defense Markets.
Reporting to the Senior Supervisor, Mechanical Design, the Co-op student will gain experience interfacing with all facets of ELCAN's operations (Sales, Supply Chain, Design, and Manufacturing) throughout their 16 month placement.
During your co-op you will have the opportunity to work on exciting, novel and cutting edge technologies, helping to develop Raytheon ELCAN's own products, participating in "Internal Research and Development", and designing opto-mechanical systems for our Aerospace & Defense customers.
The student will specifically gain experience in opto-mechanical design, mechanical design validation testing, and assembly and test processes.
Education/Technical Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited mechanical engineering co-op university program; must have successfully completed all 2nd year courses of enrolled mechanical engineering program
• Hands on experience working with design software to create mechanical models, drawings and assembly drawings; Autodesk Inventor experience preferred
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting GD&T mechanical engineering drawings
• Ability to develop basic test plans for mechanical parts and systems
• Experience using mechanical test lab equipment to support execution of test plans
• Understanding of design for manufacturing and assembly principles

• Efficiently prioritize, organize and execute on given tasks
• Strong written and communication skills; interfacing with product development teams
• Ability to be adaptive and take initiative
• Work with a dynamic group of electrical, optical, mechanical designers
