WSP is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong interest in fluid mechanics, Tunnel ventilation systems (TVS), fire modeling, and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to join our multidisciplinary team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects in the Rail and Transit, building and industrial sectors, with additional value placed on experience in data centers, tunnel ventilation systems, and fire and smoke modeling.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Participate in the design, review, and technical analysis of ventilation systems and air quality control systems.
  • Perform CFD simulations to evaluate wind, ventilation, system performance, and optimize airflow.
  • Collaborate with various disciplines (architectural, electrical, and structural) teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and request for proposal documentation.
  • Provide technical support during design, construction, commissioning, and system handover phases.
  • Attend client meetings and contribute to the development of strong professional relationships.
  • Support business development activities
What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline.
  • P. Eng. or eligibility
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in tunnel ventilation systems design
  • Strong knowledge of fluid mechanics, applied to ventilation and air conditioning systems
  • Strong knowledge in CFD simulation with tracked practical experience, with a preference for ANSYS Fluent
  • Familiarity with applicable standards: ASHRAE, NFPA, National Building Code of Canada, etc.
  • Experience in a consulting engineering environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Autonomous, proactive, and capable of self-directed learning
Assets:
  • Experience in the design or analysis of data center systems (cooling, redundancy, energy efficiency, external wind analysis).
  • Knowledge of tunnel ventilation system design and smoke control strategies
  • Experience in fire modeling using FDS
  • Master's degree or advanced training in CFD
  • Familiarity with CFD codes specific to data centers, such as Cadence Reality DC (formerly Future Facilities 6SigmaDCX)
