Sidekick Services is recruiting on behalf of a progressive, technology-driven design firm based in Nanaimo and serving clients across Vancouver Island and beyond. The firm focuses on building design and analysis, with expertise in Mechanical Engineering services including HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.

Role Description

This is a

full-time, on-site

position located in Nanaimo. The firm is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with construction industry experience and the ability to stamp drawings in British Columbia.

Required Qualifications - Essential!

Mechanical Engineer registered in British Columbia (or eligible for registration and willing to relocate),

with stamping authority

Experience in a mechanical discipline such as Plumbing, HVAC, Fire Protection, Refrigeration, and related systems for both new construction and renovation projects Ability to coordinate Architectural, Structural, Civil, and Electrical drawings with Mechanical design packages Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; ideally

2+ years of Revit MEP/BIM

experience Skilled in modeling HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems in Revit

Additional Requirements

Strong written and verbal communication skills Professional, respectful approach when working with clients and colleagues Ability to work independently or collaboratively as project needs require Strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines Highly organized with strong time-management capabilities Adaptable to changing project priorities and conditions

Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years of relevant industry experience Strong understanding of Canadian and provincial building codes and design standards, with emphasis on NFPA and ASHRAE Advanced design abilities in HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems Experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel Ability to perform heat loss calculations and energy modeling

Compensation

The salary range for this position is

$80,000 to $110,000

, depending on skills and experience. A comprehensive benefits package is available after three months of employment, and wages are paid weekly.

Relocation reimbursement may be offered and paid upon successful completion of the probation period. Support with finding local accommodations or settling in the area may also be provided.
