Job Description

Actalent is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for our client in the aerospace industry for a long term opportunity in the Ottawa area.Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and/or review project deliverables such as plans, reports, drawings, analyses, and other related documents within Mechanical and Systems Engineering, ensuring the highest quality service for internal and external customers.
• Provide ongoing support for new and existing designs, including product conceptual designs, 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings, technical instructions, and engineering specifications.
• Perform design checks, support the creation of redlines, and assist with sign-off through production phases.
• Participate in and support various design review meetings (SRR, ERR, PDR, CDR, change boards, etc.).
• Collaborate effectively with other Engineering Functions, including Electrical and Manufacturing teams, to ensure cohesive project outcomes.
• Act as a liaison between project management and engineering teams to ensure smooth integration of tasks and objectives.
• Monitor systems, processes, and practices within your technical area of expertise, identifying opportunities for improvement based on evolving needs, feedback, and current best practices.
• Drive new ideas to reduce costs, enhance product quality, increase productivity, and meet deadlines.
• Provide technical guidance and oversee a small team of engineers when required.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager.

Qualifications:

• Strong experience in Design, COTS, Custom Solutions, Supplier Management, DFM, Design-to-Cost, Weldment, Sheet Metal, Welding, Machining.
• A Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree from an accredited university or equivalent experience.
• A detail-oriented, organized individual capable of developing complex designs and analyses.
• Ability to work well within a team, collaborate across functions, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
