Hi-Kalibre Equipment is looking for a

Mechanical Engineer

to join our team and support our mission in the blowout prevention industry. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for designing new products and improving existing ones to ensure they perform well and stay relevant in the market.

This role involves working on all stages of product development, from research and design to manufacturing and post-production. The Mechanical Engineer will also provide technical support to departments like production, quality, and sales, helping Hi-Kalibre Equipment meet customer needs and maintain high-quality standards. This is a hands-on position that requires creativity, technical skills, and teamwork to ensure our products meet design requirements and contribute to the company's growth.

Job Responsibilities:



Serve as a knowledgeable technical resource on various product lines for various departments within the company. Develop, review and submit comprehensive engineering designs, drawings, and technical information for product realization and product maintenance, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations. Conduct thorough self-checks and peer reviews to minimize engineering errors, ensuring accuracy and compliance before submitting work for management review or approval. Maintain engineering database of parts and standards in ERP Software, SolidWorks and Solidworks PDM, to ensure neat, orderly and consistent manufacturing information, model creation, assembly creation and drawing management. Directly responsible for the creation and upkeep of essential manufacturing documents, including bill of materials, bill of operations, part information, material standards, engineering procedures and ERP data and software instructions. Perform mechanical engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques to establish design acceptance criteria and ensure product compliance with industry standards. Assist in research and development efforts by planning and executing test programs, collecting data, and compiling test reports. Construct prototypes and perform tests to assess design functionality and performance. Reduce cost of non-conformance by assessing issues with shop personnel to help determine root cause, determine appropriate short term and long term remediation, and providing cost effective disposition of non-conformances without compromising design acceptance criteria. Reduce cost of manufacturing by working with production and quality to drive continual improvement by optimizing manufacturing drawings, production processes and inspection criteria without compromising design integrity. Collaborate with customers, sales, and management to conceptualize product improvements and new innovative ideas to create intellectual property that addresses real world technical challenges. Become key point of contact for sales, production, and purchasing to answer technical questions and draft responses for customers and vendors to quickly and expertly resolve field concerns and supply chain issues. Assist sales with customer quotations by selecting appropriate products to meet customer needs, or if necessary develop proposals that meet design intent in a cost effective manner. Create bill of materials and bill of operations in quotations for costing purposes. Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned as it relates to engineering and design acceptance criteria, manufacturing and product realization, supply chain and industry capability, or compliance to external standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:



Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualifications required. Professional engineering registered or eligible for registry with APEGA. 2+ years of experience in the design and operation of oilfield service equipment is required. Experience with API Spec 7-1 and NACE MR0175 is preferred. Experience with SolidWorks or similar, SolidWorks PDM or similar, mechanical aptitude, general manufacturing knowledge, and oil field exposure is an asset. Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word and Excel) Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Demonstrates a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals; ability to work collaboratively in a challenging, fast-paced environment with colleagues from various departments. Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment. Strong technical writing and oral communication skills. Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups and an ability to navigate difficult conversations.
