Our customer is a dynamic company specializing in the design and manufacture of intelligent labeling systems. The company is located on the North Shore, close to major highways (and away from Montreal traffic!). Their main customers are located in North America, but the company plans to expand its market to Europe in the near future. Read on to find out more about this exciting opportunity!

Under the supervision of Engineering and Operations Management, the Senior Designer is responsible for leading the engineering team, including determining workload, delegating tasks and providing training, as well as managing and improving performance. Also to design labeling machines.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT :
- Attend project kick-offs and validate customer requirements
- Manage engineering projects and assist designers in their projects
- Ensure rigorous follow-up in the department
- Validate files before going into production: 2D; 3D; BOM; Parts; etc.
- Work in collaboration with other departments
- Evaluate engineering\'s operational performance

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Model and design labeling machine components according to established standards, norms and methodology.
- Receives drawings, plans, drafts and customer requests
- Analyzes current concept, retains strengths or new concepts submitted by colleagues, and ensures concept feasibility
- Produces basic sketches (draft of general concept in 3D)
- Validates parameters: shape, size, mobility, weight, strength, materials used
- Retain, produce and validate a 3D design that reflects the customer\'s idea, and record the information in the specifications
- Ensures compliance with specifications and quality of proposal
- Validates modifications, if any
- Produce specification drawings (technical dimension)

Produce technical drawings for customer acceptance (tender drawing).
- Produce technical drawings for production (2D execution)
- Set requirements for subcontractors (dimensions, processes, dimensions, clearances, tolerances, etc.)
- Makes corrections where necessary
- Liaise with production manager to ensure project optimization
Manage production recipes and component inventory (BOM)

Identifies equipment, raw materials and components.
- Verify the quality of information to ensure that the recipe is operational
- Finalize specifications
- Transfer information to authorized person
- Review existing products and manufacturing processes to improve productivity
- Complies with product file archiving system procedures

Other
- Provides technical support to assembly and machining departments
- Participates in the design of R&D projects
- Performs all other related tasks as directed by immediate supervisor
- Organizes and carries out work to meet deadlines
- May be called upon to work on special mandates

DESIRED SKILLS
- Ability to read assembly drawings
- Ability to read pneumatic and electrical diagrams is an asset
- Ability to image concepts and visualize the finished product

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- University degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
- Excellent command of SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM and Microsoft Office
- In-depth technical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical technology and concepts
- 6+ years experience in a similar field
- Excellent knowledge of spoken and written French and English
- Membership in good standing with the IOQ is an asset
