Job Description

Our Markham office has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer - Buildings with Project Management experience to join our team to help us maintain our momentum.

The primary responsibility of this position is to be responsible for technical designs on multiple projects on a range of building systems for a range of commercial, multi-residential, institutional, government, and industrial clients. This involves working with our project managers, design engineers, and customers to ensure overall project success from inception to completion.

Preference will be given to applicants with practical experience related to any of the following facilities:



Experience with multi-unit residential, commercial, retail, industrial, and institutional buildings. Building sciences that include renovations to existing multi-unit residential, commercial, and institutional buildings. HVAC (including hydronics systems) and plumbing for existing and new builds

Key Responsibilities:



Assist intermediate and senior staff with engineering design on a variety of projects. Being a resource for mechanical design standards for other internal teams/disciplines and supporting other Project Managers on project delivery. Advancing projects through the concept, design, and construction phases. Preparing technical designs, specifications, and reports for a variety of projects. Preparing and drafting detailed diagrams, plans, and drawings using AutoCAD. Coordinating project design drawings with project managers, multi-discipline engineers and architects. Stamping/Sealing mechanical design drawings for building permit. Promoting energy efficiency and other sustainability initiatives. Review design compliance with relevant Codes and Standards Preparing HVAC load calculations (using HAP) and equipment selections Attending site meetings and liaising with clients/contractors. Maintaining control of the schedule to ensure we deliver by agreed-upon due dates. Contract administration duties, including shop drawing review and construction site visits to ensure conformance with approved drawings Maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Participating in the preparation of engineering services proposals.

Qualifications & Requirements:



Relevant degree or diploma with a minimum of 6 to 10 years of progressive and related mechanical building services experience within a professional services environment. Currently licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario. A deep working knowledge of relevant current building construction design standards and codes, including the National Building Code, National Fire Code, ASHRAE, along with relevant NFPA and CSA standards is essential. Expertise in HVAC local and national regulatory requirements, codes and standards. Experience developing HVAC schematics, specifications, and detailed designs. Working experience in a variety of industrial projects in the field of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection. Project management skills and strong attention to detail. Demonstrated ability for, and interest in, business development. Ability to coordinate projects with J+B's multi-disciplinary consultant team. Ability to organize, multi-task and prioritize tasks. Strong time management and commitment to deadlines. Possess excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills in English. Strong computer proficiency with industry-specific software, including AutoCAD, REVIT, Carrier HAP, and Microsoft Office Applications. Experience in contract document production and construction detailing. Must be familiar with occupational health and safety regulations on construction sites. Comfortable on a job site and interacting with various construction trades. Experience with contract administration, including site reviews and shop drawing reviews. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle on a regular basis are required.

Pay: $65,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
