Mechanical Drafter/Mechanical Designer

Position Overview



We are seeking a Mechanical Drafter / Mechanical Designer who has a passion for working with machines, mechanical systems, and industrial equipment. This role requires an individual with strong technical knowledge in areas like mechanics and materials science, hands-on ability with tools and equipment, proficiency in CAD software for design and drafting and demonstrated ability to solve problems utilizing their analytical thinking. The ideal candidate possesses a strong working knowledge of machining, welding, and metal fabrication, and can turn concepts into accurate technical drawings and 3D models.

Key Responsibilities



Produce mechanical drawings, 3D models, and assembly layouts for parts, systems and equipment

Incorporate knowledge of machining, welding, and fabrication practices into product designs

Develop repair methodologies for customer parts, equipment, and mechanical systems

Help with product development including selecting parts, sourcing components, putting systems together, and making sure everything works as expected

Provide technical support to internal teams and offer design input when resolving production or field-related challenges

Assist with preparation of materials and estimates for proposals

Prepare and maintain bills of materials (BOMs), revision control, and drawing files

Utilize 3D printers to develop prototypes and validate design concepts prior to production

Qualifications



Diploma, certificate, or equivalent training in Mechanical Design/Drafting Technology or related field. (Preference given to Certified Engineering Technologists)

Prior experience in manufacturing environment highly desirable

Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar)

Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on knowledge of manufacturing processes

Good problem-solving skills with the ability to think practically

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively in a team environment

Knowledge of configuration control and engineering change management practices is considered an asset

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
