Modern Niagara Engineering is looking to add a Detailer/Designer to their growing team. In this role you will be responsible to design and detail Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering drawings for Commercial and Institutional projects across the country.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take drawings from initial concept stages, working with Lead Engineering Designers and with clients to layout and design mechanical or electrical systems for various projects
  • Responsible for System design, calculations and application selection of Plumbing, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning, and Fire Protection systems
  • Cross reference dimensions of materials used in relation to various parts to ensure fit
  • Analyze all systems to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Pursues an understanding of the technical foundation of design activities and decisions
  • Contributes to tasks on multiple projects and timelines concurrently
  • Manages workload to deliver assigned projects on time
  • Interact with Architects, consulting engineers, internal and external customers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in mechanical, electrical or construction technology
  • Minimum 4 years of designing and drafting mechanical or electrical components of Commercial and Institutional buildings
  • Must have experience using 2D/3D software, AutoCAD, Revit
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good time management and organization
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Highly motivated and self-directed capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Commercial and Construction awareness and understanding of equipment and material costs
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple teams and key stakeholders, internally and externally
