Job title: Mechanical Designer
Reports to: Project Manager
Major purpose:
To be the design lead on aftermarket fabrication for vehicle conversions. The focus will be design projects from conception to completion.
Major Duties:
Design
Designing and developing MoveMobility Product lines using 3D CAD
Working through all phases of production design from conception to product drawings (drafting dimensioning, stress tests)
Creating design files for parts manufacturing to interface with production equipment
Analyzing designs to optimize them for production efficiency, performance, and cost effectiveness
Prototype creation
Testing of component parts
Development of process improvement
Production run and quality assurance testing
Work with production on design related trouble shooting
Collaborate with engineering, production, sales and other stakeholders on projects as required.
Administration
Communication with production staff on a regular basis
Attends daily Innovation huddle
Organization and filing of documents, change orders, shop drawings etc.
Documents all project work in project management software
Submits weekly reports for each project

Education
High School diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of a minimum one of the following: Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Technologist Program or Drafting & Design Technologist
Relevant Work Experience:
Minimum 5 years experience using CAD (Solidworks experience is an asset)
Hands on shop/practical experience is an asset
Previous manufacturing and design experience is an asset
Vehicle design experience is an asset
Sheet metal experience is an asset
Customer service experience
