Position Type: Full-time



Salary Range: $52,000-$84,000 per year

Valid is searching for a Mechanical Designer who is responsible for the maintenance and support of existing product lines and over time will be responsible for the design and development of new products. This role may be assigned several projects simultaneously and will be responsible for their overall success, all while working closely with other departments within the company.

Responsibilities:

Supports existing product lines and modifies products according to customer's specific needs. Develops new product variants ensuring that designs are as cost effective as possible. Communicates regularly with manufacturing. Production and maintenance of all fabrication drawings. Ensures accuracy of bill of materials and fabrication procedures. Gains knowledge of manufacturing processes to support decision making. Other duties as assigned or required.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Detail-orientated, well organized with good troubleshooting skills. Positive attitude and ability to deal with setbacks. Work as part of a team with an ability to work independently when necessary. Take responsibility and initiative for the success of a project and work effectively with others involved. Open to positive and constructive feedback. Ability to take input from a range of sources and incorporate them into the best design possible. Ability to make quick decisions.

Requirements:

Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma or Engineering Degree. Previous SolidWorks work experience. Good working knowledge of design tables and sheet metal parts. Must have competent computer skills with MS Office products. Experience in the design of weldments, machined parts and sheet metal parts an asset. Experience in relative costing of various manufacturing processes an asset.
