Overview:
Our team is looking to hire a Mechanical Designer. This position is full time, working onsite Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:00pm.
Key Responsibilities:
Working in the aerospace and defense context at an internationally-recognized AS9100 company, tasks would include the following:
Work as part of a team designing gas turbine and diesel intake and exhaust components for naval and aerospace use
Produce and check drawings of the designs
Participate in the production of other product definition and documentation items
Support in-house CNC machinery including: vertical mills, laser cutter, brake press and 3D printing.
Determine and provide internal feedback on how and why we have met the high-level customer requirements with our designs
Provide product support internally and directly to customers for Davis naval and aerospace equipment over its entire lifecycle
Ensure commonality (where practical) across related platforms both in initial design phases and in after-delivery support.
Ensure alignment of technical information and publications with product definition; tracking that customer has the correct information
As determined by the Design Lead, provide direction and coordination to other designers tasked with sub-sections of an overall design
Mandatory Requirements:
Minimum of five years working with SolidWorks for modeling and drawing generation
Understanding of engineering drawings of mechanical systems
Familiarity and experience with tolerancing and dimensioning of sheet metal and welded sheet metal fabrications
Ability to communicate well in English
Ability to obtain and maintain a NATO Secret security clearance as well as Canadian Controlled Goods
Canadian passport holder
Optional Requirements:
Experience working in the aerospace or defense industry
Experience using either MasterCAM or SolidCAM (SolidCAM is a strong asset)
Experience with machining or sheet metal fabrication methods (experience as a machine operator is a strong asset)
