We're excited to share an opportunity for an existing vacancy as a Mechanical Designer.
We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Designer who thrives on turning complex mechanical challenges into practical design solutions. In this role, your expertise in SolidWorks, FEA, and welded/fabricated assemblies will directly influence the quality and reliability of custom-engineered equipment. You'll be joining a collaborative team where your designs move quickly from concept to production-making a real impact in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Daily responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Design and develop custom mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks
Perform FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to validate strength and performance of structural and load-bearing parts
Create detailed fabrication and weldment drawings in compliance with industry standards
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effectiveness
Prepare and manage detailed BOMs and documentation for each project
Support prototype development and participate in design reviews
Recommend material selections and design improvements based on application requirements
Ensure all designs adhere to applicable safety and regulatory requirements
Mandatory Requirements:
6+ years of mechanical design experience in a manufacturing or custom machinery environment
Proficient in SolidWorks, including weldments and large assemblies
Hands-on experience with welded and fabricated metal parts
Demonstrated experience performing FEA using SolidWorks Simulation or equivalent tools
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and manufacturing processes
Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering
Preferred Requirements:
Experience working with stainless steel and structural steel
Familiarity with GD&T and tolerancing standards
Exposure to PDM or other engineering data management tools
Knowledge of machining and sheet metal processes
Practical shop or field experience with fabricated assemblies is an asset
Location: Halton, Ontario
Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
