The Role:
Precision Mounting Technologies is seeking to hire a Mechanical Designer for our Calgary facility. The successful candidate will be accountable for performing various mechanical design tasks to support the company and engineering department with responsibilities focusing on design, development, and 3D modeling and documentation for current and future products developed by the company. In this position, you will work closely with some of the biggest technology and automotive brands and companies in the world, working on leading edge technology on a day-to-day basis.
Essential Duties/Principal Responsibilities:
Design new products while applying theory and principles of mechanical design to develop, modify, and test mechanical components and assemblies
Review, create, and update technical drawings
Work closely with OEM partners, engage in design meetings/reviews and project timelines
Draft detailed drawings to allow for part fabrication
Discuss changes in design, method of manufacture and assembly, and drafting techniques and procedures with staff effectively, leveraging in house manufacturing abilities
Set up and conduct tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to meet industry test standards such as MIL-STD 810G
Assemble prototypes and development samples
Track and analyze project and product costs
Support internal groups such as production, sales/Marketing, and operations by creating and maintaining technical documentation in support of existing and new processes and products
Maintain and update BOM's
Participate in continual improvement activities/mandates

Legal ability to work full time in Canada
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
1-3 years of experience in a mechanical design role
SolidWorks experience required
Working knowledge and experience in designing parts for manufacturing via CNC machine tools (mill, lathe, press brake, etc.) and sheet metal
Working knowledge and experience with drawing standards and GD&T
Good mechanical aptitude; ability to work safely and effectively with a variety of hand/power tools and machinery
Experience with MIL-STD 810G standards and related certifications is an asset
Working knowledge and experience with cast and injection mold part design is an asset
Knowledge and experience in electronic systems and design an asset
Computer hardware literacy and experience
Able to perform routine tasks with minimal supervision; but also, able to work effectively within the team dynamic as required
Ability to work collaboratively and accept feedback from stakeholders
Proactive approach to addressing problems and ability to recommend solutions
Strong attention to detail required
Excellent written, verbal communication and comprehension skills
Working knowledge and experience with MS Office
Ability to travel as required (when safe and permissible to do so) throughout North America and internationally for supporting design projects, such as prototype demos, testing, and QA. Approximate amount of travel is less than 3%
