Join us.As a part of our continued growth, AECOM is seeking a motivated and skilled Mechanical Designer to support the design and construction of buildings within the Buildings + Places business line at our Burnaby, BC location.You will work in a team environment with other engineers, technologists, BIM specialists, and project managers to deliver projects in this sector, as well as in support of those in other business lines (such as Transportation and Water) to our clients both here in BC and across Western Canada. You will also be a part of multidisciplinary project teams comprising of other engineering disciplines, consultants, and architects.This is a full-time permanent position starting as soon as possible.Job Responsibilities:

• Preparing deliverables and products such as presentation materials, calculations, drawings, specifications, selections, and cost estimates related to heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) and plumbing systems for commercial, institutional, and light industrial facilities.

• Performing field investigation for incorporating existing conditions into construction documents.

• Performing construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, RFI response, construction inspection, and respond to client questions.

• Working within a project team environment and possessing good presentation and client interface skills.

• Coordinating work with other project disciplines.

• Working independently and making technical mechanical decisions based on building code interpretation and company standard practice.

• Demonstrating creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving both routine and unusual project delivery, technical and client challenges, determining technical objectives and requirements, organizing programs and projects, and developing standards and guides for technical activities and applications.

• Staying abreast of industry standards and approaches, and best practices.

• Ensuring project work is undertaken is accordance with corporate health and safety policies and quality management systems. Mentoring junior staff.

• Performing assignments of limited scope and complexity. Uses a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques in solving problems.

• Assisting more senior level engineers in carrying out technical tasks requiring accuracy in calculations, completeness of data and adherence to prescribed analysis, design, or computation methods.

• Applying standard practices and techniques in specific situations. Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:

• Must have completed a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Eligible to register for Professional Engineer in British Columbia.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience is preferred.
• Working experience with NBC, BCBC, BCPC, SMACNA, ASHRAE codes and standards
• Experience using HAP, AutoCAD, REVIT, Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point
• Familiarity with ISO quality management system
• Experience working within internal multidisciplinary teams
• Excellent written and verbal communications.
• Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles and strong ability to convey ideas clearly to others.
• Capable of collaborating effectively within project teams and engaging in creative and critical thinking.
