Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer with experience in custom automation and food packaging machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong 3D and 2D design skills and a solid understanding of mechanical systems. This role involves working closely with project managers, controls engineers, and fabrication teams to design, detail, and support the build of automated systems from concept through commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop custom automated equipment and mechanical systems for food packaging applications.

Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using SolidWorks and DraftSight/AutoCAD.

Work with vendors and suppliers to source components, request quotes, and evaluate options for performance, cost, and lead-time.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and sanitation requirements.

Participate in design reviews and implement engineering changes as needed.

Support fabrication, assembly, and machine testing through to final installation and commissioning.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.

5+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in custom automation or packaging machinery.

Proficient in SolidWorks.

Skilled in DraftSight or AutoCAD for 2D layouts and schematics.

Proficient in mechanical motion design (linear actuators, conveyors, cams, servos, etc.).

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with both internal teams and external vendors.

Canadian work authorization required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
