We are looking to hire a Junior Industrial Designer on a permanent full-time basis. Company Website: https://thelookcompany.com/ Hours of Work: Day shift 8:30am-5pm Position Overview: Permanent, full-time Mon-Fri, On-Site Reporting directly to the Head of Design with a dotted line responsibility to the Operations & Production Manger, the Junior Industrial Designer will be responsible for creating conceptual design renderings and producing technical drawings for a roster of clients. The Junior Industrial Designer will create designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also transcend well to the manufacturing, production and installation process. Responsibilities ? Create production-ready manufacturing drawings of design concepts for pricing, fabrication and client review ? Create manufacturing specifications, and bill of materials ? Liaise with our Product Design and Production team members to determine best methods and materials for manufacturing ? Create shop drawings for manufacturing ? Creating and maintaining all of TLC?s instructions sheets for current, future products and custom products ? Supporting design, engineering, and production where necessary ? Maintain and continuously develop knowledge of the latest production techniques, materials, and processes ? Aid in router and plasma programming ? Perform other special projects or duties required that are in line with role competencies or skills Candidate Characteristics: ? Capable of handling multiple priorities and projects simultaneously with a high attention to detail ? A calm and efficient individual who is capable of working under tight and changing timelines ? Organized and capable of establishing an action plan for executing their work ? Deadline driven and capable of holding themselves and staff to specific timelines ? Ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or with a team. ? Ability to learn new applications quickly ? Strong ability to listen, understand objectives and translate design concepts into reality for production purposes ? Ability to analyze, compare, and interpret detailed and sometimes poorly defined information; and capable of making sound and accurate judgments based on best available information ? A team player willing to support other company staff as required Education and Experience: ? A qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or Architectural Drafting (preferred) ? Bachelor?s Degree (preferred) ? Education or certification in a related field is an asset ? Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook ? Solidworks: 1 year (required) ? Design: 1 year (preferred) ? Adobe Photoshop: 1 year (preferred) ? Illustrator: 1 year (preferred) ? Experience in AutoCAD is desirable and any other CAD programs considered an asset ? Experience in detailing store fixtures and display would be an asset ? Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and finishing aspect of metal, textile, and plastic fabrication would be an asset ? Must have experience managing multiple projects simultaneously with tight deadlines and budgets ?
