Job Description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will be a mechanical design engineer working with metallic and composite structures, to design systems for military vehicles. They will be a self-motivated, independent professional to support both our established business and our new business opportunities. They will be able to lead customer projects from concept to customer by interpreting customer requirements and providing creative and state of the art concept solutions to meet program deliverables in a timely and cost-efficient manner.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



Design and develop mechanical systems and components from concept through production

Design parts and components in accordance with industry codes, standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements

Strong background in materials, manufacturing processes and chemical processes

Use Analysis tools such as FEA knowledge and experience to optimize components in their design phase

Actively work with employees, managers and engineering team to improve existing processes and operations through better working practices and new technology.

Ability to manage time effectively to work on multiple projects simultaneously

Effectively liaise with other members of divisional team, FPH Group, customers and outside suppliers

Reviewing and providing feedback on both internal and external statements of work.

Assist with quote opportunities as required working in conjunction with business development

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and schematics

Driven to ensure all key performance indicator targets are met

Support the creation of test plans, requests for proposals, and quotes in a professional manner. Development of associated tests, specifications, plans, drawings and other products required to support design, verification and certification

Other duties or projects as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



Post-Secondary education (undergrad or masters) in Mechanical or Materials Engineering

P. Eng license considered an asset

4+ years of direct design experience

Vehicle suspension and steering design considered an asset

Able to rapidly work and learn with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams

Experience working in Ansys is considered an asset

Experience with mechanical systems, weldments, metal fabrication, motors, gearing, ball screws, electronics, software, etc. is preferred.

Composite design engineering experience is an asset but not required

Experience with Miliary Defense programs, military vehicles, military primes and/or Tier 1 suppliers, ITAR and government contracting is preferred.

Understanding of mil. standards an asset but not required

Extremely detail oriented and analytical thinker

Ability to work within a diverse team

Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal

Ability to be flexible in hours of work to meet internal/external customer requirements

Pay: $65,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
