We're a tight-knit, product-obsessed team working at the intersection of hardware, software, and AI. As we scale up manufacturing and push the limits of design and functionality, we're looking for a
SolidWorks-savvy Mechanical Engineer
to join us in refining and maintaining our enclosures and hardware designs.
What You'll Do
Own and iterate on mechanical designs of our smoke alarm and accessory products in
SolidWorks
Tweak and maintain plastic enclosure parts with a strong focus on
DFM (Design for Manufacturing)
and
injection molding best practices
Create and update detailed 2D technical drawings and 3D assemblies for prototyping and mass production
Collaborate with electrical, firmware, and industrial design teams to ensure fit, thermal considerations, and mechanical stability
Interface with vendors and manufacturers to address tooling, tolerances, and part changes
Proactively suggest design improvements based on user feedback and manufacturing constraints
What We're Looking For
3+ years of SolidWorks experience
in consumer electronics or similar industries
Strong understanding of
DFM for plastic injection molded parts
Familiarity with mechanical fixtures such as
snap-fits, bosses, vents, mounting holes, gaskets
Ability to produce
production-ready 2D drawings
and manage
version control
Experience designing for
environmental sensors, speakers, LEDs, and PCBs
is a big plus
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
Bonus Points
Experience with certifications (UL, FCC, etc.) and design for compliance
Knowledge of thermal, acoustic, or airflow design in enclosures
Familiarity with HomeKit, Matter, or IoT devices
Based in Canada or able to work EST hours
