Allient Inc. is in growth mode and currently seeking a

Mechanical Design Engineer

to join our team in London, Ontario! In this role, you will work with both metallic and composite structures to design systems for military vehicles. The Mechanical Design Engineer will support both established programs and new business opportunities, leading customer projects from concept through delivery by translating requirements into innovative, cost-efficient solutions.

Responsibilities:

Design and develop mechanical systems and components from concept through production. Design parts and components in accordance with industry codes, standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements Apply knowledge of materials, manufacturing, and chemical processes to optimize designs. Use analysis tools (such as FEA) to validate and refine designs. Collaborate with engineering teams, managers, customers, and suppliers to improve processes and achieve project goals. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time and on-budget execution. Review and provide feedback on internal and external statements of work. Support business development with technical input for quotes and proposals. Interpret and produce engineering drawings, specifications, and schematics. Develop and support test plans, requests for proposals, and verification activities. Ensure performance targets are met and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering. 4+ years of design experience. Experience in vehicle suspension and steering design preferred Familiarity with Ansys Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, weldments, metal fabrication, motors, gearing, ball screws, electronics, and software. Composite design experience preferred Knowledge of Military Defense programs, military vehicles, Tier 1 suppliers, ITAR, and government contracting preferred
