Job Description

Peter Lucas is seeking an experienced

Mechanical Construction Consultant

to serve as a

Subject Matter Expert (SME)

and provide oversight for the mechanical construction of a Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and associated pipe rack systems on a major natural gas power generation project. This role will support the Prime Contractor on site and provide leadership in site construction supervision.

Must be able to work up to 12-hour shifts in accordance with the contractor's rotation schedule (typically 10 days on, 4 days off).



Key Responsibilities:



Oversee the installation of HRSG, exhaust and bypass stacks, and related equipment. Supervise installation of HRSG building steel and piping systems, including valves, instruments, supports, and heat tracing. Monitor installation of major mechanical components such as: + Boiler feedwater pumps, sample panels, chemical feed skids, heat exchangers. + Air-cooled condenser (ACC) vacuum pumps and power/control modules.
+ Emissions systems, dewpoint heaters, ammonia reclaim skids, and support structures.
Coordinate quality control and construction validation through Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). Support startup and commissioning activities including steam blows and chemical cleaning. Ensure construction adheres to quality management systems registered with the Technical Safety Authority of Saskatchewan (TSASK).

Requirements



Extensive experience in mechanical construction oversight of natural gas power generation projects within EPC environments. Proven background in roles such as construction coordinator, QA/QC specialist, superintendent, or site manager. Deep expertise in the planning and construction of large-scale

systems. Valid

Class 1 Licensed Pressure Equipment Inspector (LPEI)

certification. Interprovincial Journeyperson certification as both a

welder

and

boilermaker

. Strong familiarity with TSASK-registered equipment and registered Quality Management Systems (QMS). Experience validating mechanical work quality through ITPs and QA/QC procedures. Proficiency in SAP or similar systems is an asset. Capable of working in confined spaces and at height (e.g., inside or on top of HRSG units). Experience working with both building trades and non-building trades craft.
