We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Assembly Inspector to join our manufacturing team. This role involves inspecting and checking finished products to ensure proper quality and product specifications. They also test and run completed headers and swathers to ensure all product features and functions are within normal operating parameters. They identify and fix out of spec conditions and document and record machine test results. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, quality management, and inspection techniques.
Duties
Prepare and setup necessary tools, equipment, kits, and sub-assemblies for machine testing (run-in) and final check off and completion of header or swather.
Use a variety of hand, power tools and other equipment, following appropriate methods and procedures to setup, adjust and make ready for shipment completed headers and swathers.
Manage inventory, following established guidelines and procedures including labeling and locating parts, picking parts from appropriate locations in specified quantities to fill kits or bins, delivering parts to work areas, and recording and communicating inventory levels.
Inspect and check parts and products as necessary, during or after run-in, according to established guidelines and quality standards to ensure accuracy against drawings, BOMs and checklists.
Report machine issues (Red Tags) that cannot be quickly addressed through standard trouble shooting practices. Assist in problem solving and troubleshooting, any of these escalated problems or issues that have been identified during the inspection and check process (run-in).
Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specification changes.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain, store, and organize all tools and equipment according to established procedures.
Accurately and consistently complete required paperwork - time-sheets, work order transactions, machine test forms/checklists, etc.
Train work station personnel, when necessary, on station tasks, work procedures, checklists, paperwork, quality checks, etc.
Perform all work in accordance with the quality standards and established safety procedures.
Cross train in other areas as needed.
Perform other duties as requested by the department manager / supervisor.
Requirements
Proven experience or knowledge in manufacturing, quality management, or related fields is preferred
Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret data accurately
Familiarity with QA/QC procedures, including quality management systems and inspection techniques
Proficiency in using calipers, micrometers, and other measurement tools for quality inspection
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of quality assurance
Ability to work effectively within a team environment and follow detailed instructions
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and safety regulations
Prior experience with data collection and analysis related to production is a plus
Experience operating straight cut headers, swathers, or similar harvesting equipment is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify, troubleshoot, and correct mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on assembled products.
Competent in the safe operation of harvest equipment for testing and inspection purposes.
Able to read and interpret technical drawings, assembly instructions, and inspection documentation.
Proficient in completing quality reports, checklists, and run-in documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
